“Conflict-related sexual violence in Ukraine affects people from all walks of life. Survivors include women and men, children, and older adults. These are stories of resilience, courage, and breaking through stigma,” said Ada of her New York Times investigation, co-reported with Monika Prończuk.
In February 2022, just before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ada moderated the panel “Autocracy’s Assault on Press Freedom” on the state of media freedom in Poland, Hungary, and Russia, hosted by the MIT Center for International Studies. Speakers included New York Times international correspondent Valerie Hopkins, Telex editor-in-chief Veronika Munk, and Paulina Milewska, senior advisor at the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom.
“I report on sexual violence and other human rights violations within vulnerable communities and have been in situations in which people don’t want to share their experiences. (...) But I’ve found ways to talk about taboos without violating them, and that is oftentimes even more powerful.” Ada speaks with Michelle English from the MIT Center for International Studies about ethical, cross-border journalism, freedom of expression, and the global rise of autocracy.

Stanisław Skarżyński speaks with Ada Petriczko and Aleksandra Zbroja, authors of the story “Cohousing: I’ve Got 20 Years Left and I Want Them to Be Sweet”, published in Duży Format magazine, about how cohousing challenges cultural stigma around aging in a youth-obsessed world.

Why was Barbara Zdunk - burned at the stake in 1811 - the last woman executed for witchcraft in Europe? Why did Romania avoid the fires altogether? Where do self-identified witches still practice today? And who is the modern-day witch welcoming visitors from a golden throne? In this episode of Martyna Kraus’s podcast Koleżanki, Ada explores the hidden history of European witch hunts - and how their legacy lives on in feminist activism. The conversation covers major witch trials, the meaning behind protest slogans like “We are the granddaughters of the witches you didn’t burn,” and the multimedia series Witch Hunt, which Ada co-authored with Ana Maria Luca and Adam Barwiński.
